Dr. Ming Wang, Harvard & MIT graduate (MD, magna cum laude) and one of the few laser eye surgeons in the world today who holds a PhD in laser physics, and board member Misty Walker and secretary Ella Morrissey have recently hosted a successful educational forum for the Tennessee Immigrant and Minority Business Group (www.TIMBG.org) focusing on Women Entrepreneurs. Dr. Wang co-founded TIMBG in 2013 and has served as its president since inception. He himself is an immigrant and minority. The Angel studios’ film “Sight” (FREE link: sight.drmingwang.com) is based on Dr. Wang’s autobiography “From Darkness to Sight”, and his faith journey is also featured in the award-winning film “God’s Not Dead”.

In the beginning of the forum, Dr. Wang presented the data: 20% of U.S. population are Latinos, 18% African Americans and 7% Asians. These three so-called minorities are already 45% (white are 46%) and in a few years they will become the majority for the first time in U.S. history. Not only where we are as a nation in the racial distribution, but also where we are going. The medium age of white is 58, Asians 29, African Americans 27 and Latinos (legals only) 11. Dr. Wang’s point is: In an unprecedentedly polarized nation (the Divided States of America), where are we are increasingly unable to work across political isles, racial divides and ethnic divisions, to solve the problems that we really need to solve (gun violence, opioid crisis, environmental disasters, racial tension, poverty, education, jobs, healthcare). Immigrants and minorities are known to be pragmatic problem solvers, so America NEEDS immigrants and minorities NOW! Be a part of an immigrant and minority business organization such as TIMBG will give business men and women a leg up in expanding business opportunities in America in 2026 and beyond!

The next TIMBG forum is on 6/11 Thurs 5:30pm and it is about non-profit (www.TIMBG.org).
